Danika Update - Ribbons Galore
2:36 PMYou Remember Danica, Right? |
Hi Everyone, Uncle Chris here with a fantastic story you might not believe.
Do you remember Danika? She fostered here for a few weeks in December. She was a silly, fun, and very intelligent dog who was always looking for a new game or adventure.

...SILLY! |
Danika was given a fantastic opportunity to go work with local professional trainer, Loren. We were all so happy for her! I've posted a few updates on the Foster Facebook Page, but I thought this latest one deserved a full post.
Danika went from being a dog who lived in the shelter more than half of her life...

To being an award winning AKC titled dog -
I'd like you to meet Morning Star RN CGC!

Here's a few words from Loren:
Danika is a wonderful example of a shelter dog. She is able to adapt to stressful situations and is very eager to interact with people. She is very intelligent and easy to train. Anyone that thinks shelter dogs are "bad" is more than welcome to meet Danika, she'd love to prove them wrong.
Danika competed in Rally Novice (a fun obedience competition) and scored well on two of her runs - then she scored a 99 out of 100 points on her third try! Almost a perfect score after only a month of training. Smart indeed, Loren! And it shows what an amazing trainer Loren is as well.
Danika finished out the weekend by earning her Canine Good Citizen title, making her eligible for all sorts of things - including therapy work!
Congratulations to both Danika and Loren on such a wonderful success.
The super well trained Danika is available for adoption - feel free to contact me on the Facebook Page, comment below, or www.heschatt.com and we will put you in touch with Loren!
Here's a video of Danika and Loren's 99 point Rally Novice leg on Sunday.
This story is a great example of how versatile and smart a humble shelter dog (or kitty!) can be. All they need is a chance to shine. Do you have a special skill set like Loren that might help an animal in need? You don't have to be a dog trainer - Photographer, Marketing Executive, Creative Writer, Information Technology? We'd love to hear from you, too!
Uncle Chris is always proud of foster dogs that are successful, most often just by being a fantastic pet for their Forever Family. But today is kind of special - and it brings a tear to my eye to see what Danika was able to do with the help of such an able professional like Loren.
Okay - I'm ready for my Forever Family!!! |
One Happy Foster Dad,
~ UC
