Selma is ADOPTED!
7:27 PMI got to celebrate Mother's Day with my new Mommy! |
It's me, Selma (I almost forgot).
It's been over a year since I was brought into the Humane Educational Society in Chattanooga as an Injured Stray. I was banged up pretty bad on one of my paws. Just a lonely, homeless girl with no place to go. I had gravel in my tummy from trying to survive on the streets and was all skinny and stuff. But the nice people at HES got me all fixed up and all the staff and volunteers there took good care of me - and even found me a foster home with Uncle Chris.
Remember this? I was so stressed. And recovering from surgery on my tummy! |
And then I waited. And waited.
I learned a lot of great stuff while I was waiting. I learned all my housetraining stuff (never a single accident, thank you very much), I learned a few obedience things, I had a foster roommate... But most important of all - I learned how to relax and just enjoy life.
Six months of waiting at UC's house came to an end when one of his Facebook supporters sent a message asking about me. ME! They had a friend who was looking for a sweet dog - okay, well that's obviously me.
So last weekend we all went out to visit and see if she liked me. I think she did - because she adopted me!
Now I have awesome toys...
I love rope toys - this one rocks!! |
Am I Pretty or What? |
Mom says a girl has to have her outfits! |
Checking out the yard. Awesome, just like I knew it would be! (and sporting another cool outfit...) |
Allowed to snuggle on the couch any time I want. Awesome. |
And able to enjoy life and share all the love I have to give! That's the best part... |
I want to say thank you to EVERYONE who helped me go from being an injured stray to my new awesome life! All the great staff members and awesome volunteers at HES - they work tirelessly to make sure a dog like me gets a chance, so please think adoption first when you are looking for a new family member. And all the great people cheering me on from Uncle Chris's Foster Academy Facebook page. And my new Aunt Misty for introducing me to my Mom (I still get excited every time I woof that!). And a special thanks to Uncle Chris and Auntie Kate for providing a soft landing when I needed it most and giving me a place to stay where I could thrive.
But most of all??
Thanks to my new Mom! She's awesome and I love her already. I might even follow her around 'cause we're pals...
So, that's my big news! As a cool rescue group in Spain* likes to say - "From the Street Life to the Sweet Life!"
I'll be sure to send updates once in a while to tell you how good I'm doing!
Glad to be HOME,
Selma
