Meet Simeon & Garfunkel

Hi! We're Simeon & Garfunkel - We'd love to meet you!
Meet Simeon & Garfunkel, a bonded pair of dogs available for adoption from the Chattanooga Humane Educational Society.

Simeon & Garfunkel were rescued in December of 2014 from a terrible hoarding situation in Tennessee in which 60 dogs, 6 cats, a parrot, and a goat were rescued. The conditions the animals were living in was disgusting, but these two boys refuse to let their past determine their future. They have been through the worst together and are ready to find that special place to call home.

The boys enjoy spending a lot of time outside, and get along well with other animals - they are currently being fostered on a farm near Chattanooga. Here's what their Foster Family had to say about them:

We have had Simeon and Garfunkel here on our farm for a few weeks, and they have already made so much progress!  We learned quickly that they would do almost anything for a treat (peanut butter seems to be their favorite).  It does take a few minutes for them to feel comfortable coming to you when you first go into the area, but even that has lessened each day.  And, after they do come to you, they’re very eager to be petted and rubbed.
Their intelligence is obvious.  When I got the leashes out for only the third time, they seemed to understand that they would get to go on a walk, and were eager.  During walks, they enjoy every new thing they can discover; tracking, smelling, especially getting in the water!
Both boys are calm inside their pen, and quiet when nothing much is going on. They have not barked at night (even on the first night here), however, they will make wonderful watch dogs. Anytime someone pulls into our driveway or walks outside, they are alert and aware, barking to let us know something different is going on.  During our walks, though, when encountering the cattle, they never tried to chase them or bark.
Simeon and Garfunkel are definitely happier when together; separating them seems to cause some anxiety, especially for Simeon.  There was some expected acclimation time between them and our existing farm dogs; however, that all worked out fairly quickly. Both dogs get along great with people and other animals.
While Simeon is somewhat more cautious, Garfunkel wants to trust.  He shows signs of being very loyal to whoever will treat him well.  Simeon is always willing to give kisses whenever you spend time with him.  Both are beautiful dogs and will make someone very happy and loving companions.

Fun in the Sun!
